1914 Gold Lille Equestrian PCGS SP62

1914 Gold Lille Equestrian PCGS SP62

The 1914 France Gold Agricultural Award Medal from Lille, struck under the auspices of the French Ministry of Agriculture, is a beautifully executed and historically important medal recognizing excellence in agrarian achievement. Issued during the final months of peace before the outbreak of World War I, this piece reflects both artistic refinement and national pride in agricultural production.

Obverse: Allegorical figures of Liberty and Agriculture stand side by side. Liberty extends her hand while holding a fasces, and Agriculture carries a bountiful harvest of fruits and grains. In the background, a plowman and oxen reinforce the rural theme. The inscription reads: RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE.

Reverse: Features a neoclassical plaque inscribed with: CONCOURS HIPPIQUE DE LILLE 1914, framed by palm branches and flanked by vines and produce, with the upper legend: MINISTÈRE DE L’AGRICULTURE.

Graded PCGS SP62, this gold specimen medal displays crisp relief and attractive matte surfaces, with strong detail and light satiny luster. It represents one of the finest surviving examples of early 20th-century French agricultural award medals, combining regional provenance with high artistic and historical value.
