The obverse side displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." She is surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies, with the date "1901" at the bottom

The reverse side showcases a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "FIVE DOLLARS.
