The Swedish 20 Kronor gold coin from 1900 was part of the Scandinavian Monetary Union (SMU), which was established in 1873 between Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. This union was based on a gold standard, with the 20 Kronor being a key denomination in the system. The coin was minted under the reign of King Oscar II, who ruled Sweden from 1872 to 1907.

The "EB" mintmark represents the engraver Erik Lindberg, who was the chief engraver at the Royal Swedish Mint (Kungliga Myntverket) in Stockholm.
