1422-1461 Gold Royal D'OR NGC MS63

Struck during the reign of King Charles VII (1422–1461), known as Charles the Victorious, this gold Royal d'Or represents a pivotal era in French history. Charles VII's reign saw the end of the Hundred Years' War and the restoration of French sovereignty. The Royal d'Or, introduced during his rule, symbolized the monarchy's resurgence and the nation's economic revival.

Obverse: Features a crowned King Charles VII standing frontally, holding two scepters, surrounded by a field of fleurs-de-lis. The Latin legend reads: “KAROLVS DEI GRA FRANCORVM REX” (Charles, by the grace of God, King of the French)

Reverse: Displays a floriated cross with a quatrefoil center, enclosed within a quadrilobe adorned with fleurs-de-lis and crowns. The inscription: “XPC VINCIT XPC REGNAT XPC IMPERAT” (Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands), underscores the divine authority of the monarchy.

Graded NGC MS63, this coin exhibits exceptional preservation, with sharp details and lustrous surfaces. Gold Royal d'Ors from this period are rare, especially in such high grades. This piece stands as a testament to France's numismatic heritage and the artistry of the late medieval period.
