Philippe VI of Valois (Reign: 1328-1350): Philippe VI ascended to the throne following the extinction of the Capetian dynasty's direct male line. His reign was marked by internal strife and the outbreak of the Hundred Years' War (1337–1453), a series of conflicts between France and England over territorial disputes and the French crown's legitimacy.

The obverse depicts the king seated on a throne, holding a scepter and a hand of justice, symbols of royal authority and legitimacy. The inscription include references to the king, such as "PHILIPPVS REX FRANCORVM" (Philippe, King of the Franks).

The reverse often features a floriated cross enclosed within a quadrilobe, adorned with fleurs-de-lis, a symbol of the French monarchy and divine protection. The inscriptions reference Christian themes or blessings for the kingdom, reinforcing the king’s role as a divinely chosen ruler.
