1936 US 1C Lincoln "Wheat Ears Reverse Brilliant Finish" PCGS PR67RD CAM

$19,440.00 USD

– SOLD
This incredible Brilliant Finish 1936 proof is the sole finest of just 12 Cameos certified at PCGS (6/24). Lovely copper-red hues adorn spot-free mirrors, while the deep frosty devices produce ample contrast. The cameo effect is clear and apparent on both sides, which is a decidedly very rare occurrence on this issue.

The early Brilliant Finish proofs in the Lincoln cent series often lack the pop-out eye appeal and contrast observed on those issues from the 1950-1958 date range, but this piece will match well with the Cameo and Deep Cameo coins that populated the third date range of proofs in this series. This stunning coin is simply unsurpassed for its grade and aesthetically eye appeal.

The obverse features a right-facing portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, designed by Victor David Brenner in 1909. Above Lincoln's head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while "LIBERTY" is positioned to the left. The date "1936" appears below, marking the coin’s year of issue. The brilliant proof finish enhances the sharp details of Lincoln’s profile.

The reverse showcases the classic "Wheat Ears" design, with two stalks of wheat framing the central inscriptions. The denomination "ONE CENT" is prominently displayed in the center, followed by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" below. Above the denomination, the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Out of many, one) is engraved along the upper rim. The proof strike gives the coin a deep mirrored background with frosted devices, earning it the Cameo (CAM) designation.
