Tomaso Mocenigo, Doge of Venice (1414-1423), During his reign, Venice was a dominant maritime and trade power in the Mediterranean. The Venetian ducat (also called a "zecchino") was one of the most trusted and widely used gold coins in medieval Europe.

The Observe  traditional Venetian ducat design, featuring St. Mark, the patron saint of Venice, presenting a banner to the Doge (Tomaso Mocenigo). The inscription usually includes “S. MARC VENET” (Saint Mark, Venice).

The reserve feature christ standing in a mandorla (almond-shaped frame), surrounded by stars, with the inscription “SIT T XPE DAT QTV REGIS ISTE DVCAT” (May Christ bless this ducat, which you rule).
