An eye-catching commemorative produced to an undeniably medallic standard, the rims, thick and mildly beveled, acting as boundaries to the welled-up glassy mirrored flash of the surfaces before reaching the dramatic relief of the central features. Apparently unknown to Probszt in this size (he only cited a 2 Ducat), this is the sole example of this weight and module for the type that we have been able locate, with the added artist's signature beneath the portrait suggesting a clearly donative or presentation purpose for the piece.
