The Dutch Gold Ducat was introduced in the late 16th century and became a stable and widely accepted gold trade coin in Europe. The 1763 Gold Ducat was minted in the Province of Holland during the Dutch Republic era, a time when the Netherlands was a major economic power with extensive international trade.
The obverse features an armored knight standing to the right, holding a sword in his right hand and a bundle of arrows in his left hand. The Latin inscription "CONCORDIA RES PAR CRES HOL" surrounds the knight, which translates to "Unity makes strength, Holland".
The reverse displays an inscription within an ornamented square. The Latin inscription reads "MO:ORD: PROVIN. FOEDER BELGAD LEGIMP," which stands for "Coinage of the United Provinces of the Netherlands issued in accordance with the law"
