1762 George III Gold Proof Pattern 1/2 Guinea PCGS PR63 Cameo

$30,000.00 USD

KM-Pn42, cf. S-3731, W&R-125 (R4; this coin). Plain edge. By Richard Yeo. Stunning and significantly rare, this proposed, and later adopted, design for the 1762 1/2 Guinea demonstrates a certain elegance that proved to be a consistent feature of Yeo's engraving. Aged to subtle harvest gold, the present specimen shows evidence of double striking on the reverse, with the first strike clearly rather off-center. Remarkably corrected with a heavy degree of polishing to the reverse die, this piece remains the sole or only certified certified example since its sale as part of the Terner collection in 2003, further verifying its extreme scarcity and pointing to the paucity of available representatives for collectors. Exceedingly RARE.
