1746 G.B. Silver Crown NGC PF63

$42,900.00 USD

This particular coin is known as the "Lima" crown because it was minted using silver seized from the Spanish at Lima, Peru, by Admiral George Anson during his circumnavigation of the globe. The coin serves as a reminder of Britain's maritime power and the wealth it derived from its naval victories.

The obverse features an older laureate and cuirassed bust of King George II facing left, with the legend "GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA" (George II by the Grace of God).

The reverse displays crowned cruciform shields with a central Garter star, and the legend "M.B.F.ET.H.REX.F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E." This translates to "King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Arch-Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire".
