Barber Quarters - Barber Came From A Family Of Engravers
Coming from a family of engravers, Charles Barber and his father William moved to the United States from London in 1852. William was appointed chief engraver of the United States mint in 1869 until his death 10 years later. President Rutherford B. Hayes then appointed Charles to the position of chief engraver.
