Struck at Gorinchem (Holland), this issue was part of a localized gold coinage effort mimicking high-prestige English types, particularly for international trade in the North Sea and Baltic regions. Its broad flan, gothic legends, and medieval iconography faithfully echo the English noble while subtly asserting Dutch mint authority.

Obverse: Depicts a crowned medieval king (Edward IV style) standing aboard a stylized ship, holding a sword and shield bearing the Royal Arms of England. Waves below and a quatrefoil mint mark to the left. Surrounding legend in gothic script imitates 15th-century English styling.

Reverse: Displays a floriated cross at center, surrounded by alternating crowned lions and fleurs-de-lis in a radiating pattern. The circular Latin legend surrounds the design with traditional religious phrasing, further emulating the English prototype.

Weighing 7.57 grams of .986 fine gold, this piece aligns with noble standards of the late medieval period, though struck over a century later. The PCGS AU58 grade confirms near-uncirculated quality, with sharp strike definition, intact fields, and minimal high-point friction. As the finest known certified example, this piece holds exceptional numismatic importance due to its rarity, artistic execution, and role in early Dutch monetary identity.
