1882 $20 Value Back Charter #5973 The First NB Monett, MO Fr. 581 PCGS VF20

$1,950.00 USD

A second Value Back from this tough-to-obtain bank. This is only the second $20 Value Back to be reported from this Missouri institution and is comparable in grade to the other known piece. Vignettes show a highly dramatic scene from the Battle of Lexington at left, and Columbia marching with an archetypal farmer, sailor, and mechanic at right. The back has TWENTY DOLLARS across the center. This note displays even wear and excellent color for the grade. We have seen only one similar example, from the Malcolm Trask collection in auctioned in January 2005. That “RAW” and uncertified "Very Fine+" graded example realized $4,025. Though this is not as sharp as that note, it is problem-free, attractive, certified and Extremely Rare.
